Bersih
Today the Bersih 2.0 rally was held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Bersih means clean in Bahasa Malaysia, as it is all about wanting a clean election with no tricks from the ruling government. The government should have no issues with it if they were already clean, but noooo, they choose to react to the rally with threats and violence.
They say that the rally disturbs unity and spreads all kinds of lies about the people organizing and participating. Disturb unity my ass, never in my life have I seen so many Malaysians from all walks of life, regardless of race and religion, coming to the streets for a peaceful protest even with all the threats from the police and government against those that participate. The government and police force made me feel ashamed to be on the same soil as them, but watching the youtube videos on what happened today and seeing the Bersih rally goers made me feel proud to be a Malaysian.
I scoff at the people who blame Bersih for all the roadblocks and traffic jams. You don’t see Bersih people manning the roadblocks right? These are all just dirty tactics the government use, so shame on those who fall for it. And for those that say the Bersih rally is a waste of time and should not be held, don’t be so selfish and naive. Don’t believe what the newspapers like The Star say, all they report are lies. Irresponsible journalism with the ruling government controlling them.
I salute those who went for the Bersih rally. I was not brave enough to go and be a part of something so majestic.
The people have spoken!
